Board of Directors

As a cooperative organization, everyone plays a role in making our community happen! Our board is divided into 5 teams with each director overseeing one of the teams. Each parent member (generally one per family) gets the opportunity to contribute to the functioning of The Hive by volunteering for a role in one of our 5 teams.

    Megan Rodriguez

    DIRECTOR OF CLASS DAYS

Megan is mom to 3 boys and has been homeschooling for 3 years. Before staying at home with her kiddos, she spent over 10 years at the University of Minnesota working in the English as a Second Language Program as an administrator and instructor. While NE Minneapolis was her first love, she now lives in the woods of Scandia with her singer/songwriter husband, boys, cat, chickens, and geese. When her hands are not caked with dirt from the garden or sourdough in the kitchen, they can often be found knitting away by the fireside. Megan loves how well homeschooling compliments all of these things.

  • Nicole Spiegle

    DIRECTOR OF NATURE DAYS

Nicole has 4 active children and has homeschooled since 2019 when her oldest was entering kindergarten. She loves what homeschooling has brought to her family– the freedom to go at each child’s pace, the open door to topics in various subjects, and the flexibility in their schedule throughout the year. Prior to being a mom, Nicole studied Spanish and ELL Education and worked as an ELL teacher in Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. She spent the last few years co-leading a nature homeschool group and teaching at a homeschool co-op. Nicole lives in Minneapolis and in her free time enjoys reading, being outside, and a new hobby- karate! Fun fact– Nicole was also homeschooled as an elementary student!

  • Emily Anderson

    DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Emily has been a homeschooling mom of two curious and creative kids for four years. Prior to becoming a mom, she worked in a variety of fields from electrical supply to chiropractic to cancer research. Her homebase is Columbia Heights - a great location for branching out to all sorts of metro area adventures with her husband and kids. In addition to filling her time with various homeschooling shenanigans, Emily also finds joy in walking barefoot in the paths of her garden, creating fun beverages for her family in the kitchen, and working for a local realtor.

  • Mandy Erickson

    DIRECTOR OF MEMBER ENGAGEMENT

Mandy is preparing to begin her homeschooling journey with her two boys this year. She is excited to incorporate her children’s interests into their education, learn in nature, and build relationships within The Hive! Before becoming a mom, she was a teacher in Minneapolis Public Schools and then journeyed across the country for adventure and to be a nanny. Mandy and her husband made the move back to Minneapolis just in time for their first to be born. While being a stay at home mom, she has continued to nanny, bringing her kiddos along. Mandy’s dream day includes chasing after her boys, working in her garden, exploring bike trails, hosting friends and family, and getting lost in a book.
